To celebrate our 4 year anniversary in March, we decided to do something a little out of the norm. Our entire day was pretty packed. We woke up early ish and went to see The Hunger Games at a super nice movie theater with recliner chairs, a pillow and blanket, free popcorn and a waiter! It was so nice. After lunch we went engagement ring shopping at Shane Co. It was my first time trying on rings (as opposed to dreamily window shopping on Pinterest) and I realized my taste is a lot different than I thought. A lot of the rings I thought were my favorite looked too small on my hand and weren’t “enough”, and the rings I thought looked ugly and gaudy online were amazing in person. Here you can see my favorite ring so far. After ring shopping I had an eye exam! (I know it’s nerdy but I get so excited to pick out new glasses.) I can’t find a picture of them online, but they’re black, rectangular semi frameless glasses with a little silver heart on each side. Oh here’s one of me holding the cutest baby kitten ever!
ANYWAY, back to what this post was originally about! Our final event of the day was horseback riding! It was my first time ever going. I had heard everyone say that your butt will be sore, but I didn’t really believe. Welp folks, I’m a believer now! The angle that I was sitting made it feel like my butt bones were cutting through my skin. I literally had huge bruises on my butt the next day. Also I think I had my feet in the stirrups wrong, because each time I got down off the horse, I could barely walk for a few minutes; my knees hurt SO BADLY. But aside from the pain and my terror for the first hour on the horse, things went really well! The entire event included an hour ride on a trail at sunset, down to a steak restaurant. We ate dinner there, then rode for an hour back in the dark. It was such a cool experience. The hour back in the dark was less stressful for me, I think because I couldn’t see anything (steep edges and rocks). And also maybe that beer I drank with dinner. Good idea, Bri.
OK so wanna hear about the craziest part of our entire day?? When we got back to the starting point of the trail we realized David had lost his wallet on the trail. He had it in his front pocket (recommended) but I had asked him to carry my phone and the camera in his pockets too so that I didn’t have to carry my purse. So it slipped out because of everything that was stuffed in there. The even worse part is that my debit card and photo ID were in his wallet too! The trail guide went back to look for it and didn’t find it. David went back the next day and re-hiked the trail and didn’t find it. The most amazing part of this story, is that a few days later we got a package in the mail; some super nice person had found the wallet on the trail and mailed it back to us! We were so relieved and grateful it had worked out that way. We really weren’t expecting to get it back.
Anyway, sorry that was all so long winded! We had a great time though. Did anyone else experience the same first time horseback riding experience I did?? Mostly the butt bruises and knee pain. Also does anyone else have any good anniversary date ideas? Let me know! <3
XOXO – Bri
