Hello lovelies! I have something that will certainly make your day! It’s my new favorite website, Lover.ly. My hubbie-to-be is building a wedding dress website for a client at work and he introduced me to this site the other day. Lover.ly is kind of like Google and Pinterest had a baby, and its middle name is “Wedding”. Haha! It’s a visual search engine / pinboard / cloud scrapbook specifically for wedding related things. Here is my Lover.ly profile and a screen shot!
Unlike Pinterest.com, I don’t think Lover.ly has the social networking aspect going on. Meaning, the images displayed are chosen by the Lover.ly team, not random users. As I’m browsing the site, I feel pretty secluded in my own wedding world. I don’t see how many other people have “bundled” the images I’m looking at. I don’t seem to have the option to follow anyone’s bundles (similar to following a pin board on Pinterest.com). There is a “Popular” section where you can see which bundles and images are trending, but I don’t see the number of likes or “re-bundles” on the images.
One thing I absolutely LOVE about Lover.ly which Pinterest.com does not have, is the option to search by colors. I just love color coordination! One of my favorite clothing and accessory stores to shop at is Charming Charlie, because of that reason. You walk into the store and everything (hats, shoes, clothing, purses, jewelry, etc.) is grouped by color schemes. I also go crazy over the color coordination of the fruit at Super Targets. I know that is SO dorky, but I love it! As you can see in my screen shot above, I clicked the pink square (or you can type the word “pink”) and it populated everything pink. So exciting! This is a really great way to search for wedding things that will fit the color scheme you have picked out.
One thing I really prefer Pinterest.com over Lover.ly for is the “Pin It” button (aka: pinmarklet). On Pinterest.com you can install the Pin It button in your browser. As you’re browsing the web you can click the Pin It button and choose an image from the website you are currently on, to pin to one of your boards. That way you can collect things you see from all over the internet and keep it all in one place. Lover.ly does not have this feature. You can only bundle what is on the Lover.ly site.
All in all the two sites are very similar but do have some major differences. They have different purposes and functionality though, so I think it works out. I haven’t decided if I prefer one over the other yet. Which do you guys prefer? Have you discovered anything amazing about Lover.ly that I haven’t yet?
